Kris and I loaded up my vehicle with the stroller, for her maiden voyage onto actual pavement, along with a healthily stocked diaper bag containing the cure for (most) every cry known to us thus far, and a baby coated then double-coated in Coppertone's Waterbabies SPF 70. I was certainly the most excited in our party as Kris had worked 100+ hours last week and as far as Brantley knew we were just going to the drive-thru at the bank. We arrived Downtown at 12:30pm and after Kris showed off his mad parallel parking skills (with no back up camera because we were in my car) we unloaded and hit the streets. After putting one last precautionary layer of sunscreen on Brantley...We found my parents at the Main Street stage and set out with them to find food. We found food and settled outside the Old Post Office to sit and eat, that's when we got too close to the music. Brantley did not care for it all. It was loud and upsetting to wee little 5 month old ears. And as quickly as the cries began, GrandPattie whisked her off in her stroller to 'speed-stroll' the streets until Brantley was asleep. She returned with a sleeping child and we finished our lunches before parting ways to go browse the booths. Kris and I had made about a quarter of a loop (down Walnut, cut over to Bushman, and back up Main) when she woke up and in no uncertain terms announced she was ready to depart Hubfest. We headed for the car, twisting and turning down back alleys, avoiding the throngs of festival go-ers, packed up and headed home. Better luck next year Hubfest...
And after applying half of the bottle of sunscreen to Brantley, Kris and I came home with matching sunburned striped arms. His left, my right...
